Become a Volunteer or Intern
The Hands On Children's Museum offers:
  • Volunteer positions for a variety of ages, interests and skill levels
  • Opportunities to gain valuable experience to include on your resume
  • Opportunities for individuals, groups and school classes
  • Special project opportunities
  • School credit for community service
  • Formal internships for both high school and college students
  • Volunteer opportunities for working and retired professionals
  • Teen Volunteer Program for youth ages 13 and above

Ready to volunteer? Follow these three steps:

  1. Complete the Volunteer Application and click "Submit".
  2. Download and complete the Background Check Form.
  3. Submit the background check form to: volunteers(at)hocm.org

We are currently recruiting for regular volunteers for the following positions:

  • Activity Prep Assistant
  • Art Studio Volunteer
  • Special Community Events Volunteer
  • Science Table Volunteer
  • Education Evening Programs Assistant
  • Museum Store & Cafe positions
  • Preschool Assistant
  • Face Painters
Student internships in Marketing, Social Media, Education, Events, Information Technology and Exhibits are offered in exchange for school credit. Please contact the Volunteer Department at HOCM with your completed application to discuss high school and college internship opportunities!

Once your application is received and processed, you will be contacted by the Volunteer Team to discuss your volunteer interests and preferences, and set up the required in-person interview. 

Please remember that volunteer placement is a selective process and not all applicants may be accepted into the program. The museum reserves the right to place volunteers in the area staff feels is best suited to the applicant's skills and the needs of the museum.
